But first, have to post some fantastic images from a great trip in Mongolia
\nConducted a photography workshop in Western Mongolia during the Golden Eagle Festival.<\/p>\n

The Eagle festival, or Golden Eagle festival (\u0411\u04af\u0440\u0433\u044d\u0434\u0438\u0439\u043d \u043d\u0430\u0430\u0434\u0430\u043c\/ \u0431\u04af\u0440\u043a\u0456\u0442 \u0442\u043e\u0439), is an annual traditional festival held in Bayan-\u00d6lgii aimag, Mongolia. In the eagle festival, Kazakh eagle hunters (Burkitshi) celebrate their heritage and compete to catch small animals such as foxes and hares with specially trained golden eagles, showing off the skills both of the birds and their trainers. Prizes are awarded for speed, agility and accuracy, as well as for the best traditional Kazakh dress, and more.[2]<\/em><\/p>\n

The Eagle Festival is held during the first weekend in October, run by the Mongolian Eagle Hunter\u2019s Association. Dark, rocky mountainous terrain forms the backdrop to the festivities which incorporate an opening ceremony, parade, cultural exhibitions, demonstrations and handcrafts in the centre of town of \u00d6lgii followed by sporting activities and competitions 4 km out towards the mountains. Dressed in full eagle hunting regalia and mounted on groomed decorated horses, the entrants compete for the awards of Best Turned Out Eagle and Owner; Best Eagle at Hunting Prey and Best Eagle at Locating Its Owner from a Distance. Other sporting activities include horse racing, archery and the highly entertaining Bushkashi \u2013 goatskin tug of war on horseback.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0 if you are wondering why the spectators on the right turned their back against the action \u2026 that\u2019s becos a gust of sand just blew towards us.. and they turned around to avoid the sand blowing onto their faces.. In fact this was what we faced with for the whole day. We were practically covered with dust and sand after the day was over..<\/p>\n

Another fascinating competition was \u2018tenge Ily\u2019; grabbing an object from the ground while riding on a horse. Each horse rider had to grab 3 yellow objects as fast as possible<\/p>\n

\u201cShyrga Tartu\u201d Competition<\/p>\n

The Golden Eagles swoop down from a mountain top and try and grab a fox or wolf pelt being dragged behind the owner\u2019s horse. The eagle is judged on the time it take and skill and accuracy.
