TSAATAN PHOTO SAFARI (also known as the Mongolian Reindeer Tribe) with William Chua

10 Days:
2 nights in a hotel***,
1 night at local hotel,
2 nights in a Mongolian ger,
4 nights in a Tsaatan tepee,
reindeer riding and trekking in the taiga.
Reindeer riding in Mongolia is truly inspirational experience. You will ride through the snow covered taiga, mountain forest and the vast beautiful valleys while doing optional treks and walks. Making a visit to a nomadic reindeer family can be a enjoyable experience where reindeer milk tea is a must try thing while you are at Tsaatan tepee.

Day 1. (17th February) Ulaanbaatar ( Hotel***; B, L aloft, D)

Day 2. Murun and Ulaan-Uul (Ger; B, L, D)
Fly to Murun the capital of Hovsgol province. Upon arrival at Murun airport, you will meet your local driver and continue driving to Ulaan Uul village. The village is in a Darkhad Depression which is one of the most beautiful places in Mongolia where many pristine lakes are interconnected whilst Alpine mountains with coniferous forest dominate across either sides of the depression. Overnight in a local family. Air temperature in the Darkhad Valley often drops below -45C in January and February.

Day 3. Tsaatan (or Reindeer) Family visit (Tepee; B, L, D)
Today, you will drive over 160 km to Tsaatan winter encampment in East Taiga. There are two tribes of Tsaatans in Hovsgol’s taiga. Tsaatan people are called Duhas who speak in a language with Turkic origin and Mongolian. Their main livelihood is herding reindeer and hunting. You will stay at a Tsaatan’s tepee. You will get familiarize yourself with the family you staying.

Day 4. Tsaatan encampment and herding of reindeers (Tepee; B, L, D)
It is a day to pursue your Tsaatan way of living.

Day 5. Reindeer Trekking (Tepee; B, L, D)
Your itinerary will be flexible depending on your ability of riding and you should liaise with Tsaatan people. Today is a day you will do a day reindeer ride to nearby mountain taiga. Snow covered forest, a deep snow on the ground and reindeer herd may offer you a magnificent theme of photo shooting.

Day 6. Winter Trekking (Tepee; B, L, D)
Enjoy your photo shoots for full day.

Day 7. Drive to Ulaan-Uul (Ger; B, L, D)
Today you will say good bye to Tsaatan tribe and continue driving to Ulaan-Uul via Tsagaan Nuur which is a village where fishing and berry picking is one of the main livelihoods. In the evening arrive at Ulaan-Uul and stay with a local family.

Day 8 Murun (Local Hotel; B, L, D)
After leisurely breakfast you will drive to Murun and overnight in a local hotel.

Day 9. Ulaanbaatar (Hotel***; B, L, D)
Today you will take a domestic flight to Ulaanbaatar. Upon arrival you visit Gandan Monastery, the largest Buddhist monastery in Mongolia where you can see gigantic Janraisag Statue, the god of wisdom and compassion, as tall as 9 stories of apartment block. In the afternoon, you will visit the Museum of Mongolian History where you can see traditional costumes of different ethnic Mongols, archaeological discoveries of prehistoric people and Mongol Empire of the 13th century. In the evening you will enjoy traditional folk concert followed by a farewell dinner.

Day 10. Departure
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for departure. (B)

William will guide the participants along for photography and there will also be critic sesssions
to help participants improve on their photos. A briefing will be done prior to the trip.

Workshop is open to participants of all levels, inexperienced and experienced alike.
Non Photographing Companions are welcome too..
This is not a comfort trip, participants must be prepared for long journeys and cold weather
And must be able to eat red meat

LAND TOUR PRICE:
Based on 2 participants : S$ 5000 per person in twin room
Price will be reduced if there are more participants
Single Supplement: S$120 (Available at hotels only in Murun and Ulaanbaatar)
